Indiana lawmakers are trying to pass a bill that will ban abortion in the state. They are trying to "make Indiana one of the 'most pro-life states in the country,' according to Republican Representative for Cicero, Eric Turner. Turner has voted for anti-abortion laws since he entered the House twenty-one years ago. He is trying to convince women, like other states have, that abortion can have extreme consequences like infertility and breast cancer. With this view point, along with the amount of votes he received in the House, Turner believes that Indiana could potentially become a pro-life state.
I think this bill may have some potentional, but in regards to society, I can see an uprising occuring if this bill is passed. For quite some time, women have had the right to choose what they would like to do with their child when they are pregnant. Abortion has always been an option to them, but if it is taken away, protests and violence may result. The bill, however, does have great expectations for our state, and could potentially have an effect on the rest of the country. If this bill is passed, many innocent lives may be spared and ignorant actions, like premarrital sex, may also decrease with the passing of this bill. This anit-abortion bill is offering a chance to save many lives, but I do not think its passing will go over well with the rest of society as a whole.
